I never want to be in a selfish place. As I am reflecting on life and the good things that I have in my life I immediately think of those who are way less fortunate. I was reflecting on ideas of how life could be “better” and realized that I have it very good. It’s important for me to remember where every good thing comes from. It’s also important for me to think about those who have less than I have been given. Thankfulness battles selfishness and pulls us out of a place of despair. I choose today to focus on the things that I have been blessed with and I choose to not focus on the things that I don’t yet have. While doing this, I can’t ignore the desires I have in my heart but I can channel those desires into an outward expression of attempting to fulfill the desires of others.
James 1:17 ESV
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
